23 January 1894 — Ca’ Capello, Venice | |
Tuesday. 23rd January [1894]. Finished packing. Css Lutzow came & learnt how to work a waistcoat & stayed an hour. Lunched at 1. Left by the 2.45 train for Naples. Ola was not well & stays here till Thursday when she & Agnes go to Florence to stay with the Ross at Poggio Gherardo. We had beds in the sleeping car. There was a great deal of ice on the lagoons near Mestre & we went thro fog all the way to Bologna. There was snow every where but it was pretty deep near Bologna. We got there at 6 & dined there. The car was overheated & we did not have a very comfortable night. Arrived at Rome on | |
