6 February 1894 — Naples
Tuesday. 6th February [1894]. At 10.30 Henry & I went to the Museo Industriale at the Pagiria in the Via Solitaria. We were very kindly received by the Director Sr Mar                who showed us all the laboratories, the schools, the Museum &c. The Dss Ravaschieri had promised to meet us there but sent word she was not well eno’ to come. The work that is being done at these schools is excellent, tiles for flooring, porcelain, woodwork & carpentering, bronzes, gold & silver work. We saw a large tiled floor just made for a house in Sicily. We also the facade in course of being put to the building which is an airy palace with a nice little garden. We did not get back to our hotel much before lunch. Did not go out again– I read to Henry. Practised guitar &c.
