1 March 1894 — Rome | |
Thursday. 1st March [1894]. We left Rome by 9.15 train for Florence. We travelled with 2 couple of Americans who were very polite & took great interest in my little parrot Bibi. We reached Florence at 2.15. Went to Hotel Gran Bretagne. Was rather tired so I rested till after tea & then paid a visit to Mrs Blundell Leigh who is in this hotel. Met there Mrs Monty Tharpe & Marchesa Montagliari née Fuller a pretty woman. Took a walk with Henry to see the new square that is in building & wh has a statue of V. Emanuele in the centre. Dined at a small table during table d’hôte. | |
