5 April 1894 — Milan | |
Thursday. 5th April [1894]. The servants started for Bale by 7.30 train. We left by 10.50– Another lovely day & one would have enjoyed the journey thro’ the lovely country passing the lakes had one been less sad. After Chiasso an english gentleman got into our carriage who was very kind & civil. We had an excellent lunch at Bellinzona & I made tea in the afternoon & gave some to our fellow traveller– Henry preferred to have some wine & a biscuit. We reached Bale abt 8 & found Bertha & John on the platform waiting for us & we went across to the Hotel Euler where a very good dinner was ready & we went to bed soon after having eaten it. | |
