22 April 1894 — 1 Queen Anne Street
Sunday. 22nd April [1894]. I went to church with Augusta to Little S. Paul’s behind Langham Place—but was so afraid of breaking down that I dare hardly pray lest I should give way to the tears which were in my throat. We met Blanche who has a pew in that church & went there with her– I brought her girl Olwen home to see Henry as he had not seen her since our return. She is his god child & has grown up a pretty girl & comes out this autumn. In the afternoon we had some visits. Sir Arthur Otway came & sat sometime with Henry. Sir Henry Thompson also came to tea & went up & sat with Henry. He told Lady Gregory when I was out of the room that he hoped I was not unduly anxious about his calling in Paget but he felt that my family might wish for other advice & knowing he Sir Henry was such a personal friend might not like to ask for it—so he prefers to offer it himself. When Augusta told me this I was somewhat cheered– When he was gone Charlie Eliot came to call & then Augusta & I went out Maria joining us. I walked up with Maria to her house & left her there taking Daisy to walk in Regent’s Park. Augusta went her own way. Called in to see Blanche & tell her Sir Henry Thompson’s cheering message & then came home. We kept Daisy to dinner & she sat with Henry in the eveng.
