30 April 1894 — 1 Queen Anne Street
Monday. 30th April [1894]. I wrote letters for Henry to his dictation after breakfast & did not go out all the morng. Henry got up as usual about 11 & came into my room on the sofa—but he had pain when he tried to sit up & so had to lie down– I went out driving with Augusta. It was very wet & rainy & drizzly & cold. We went to Rigal’s & to Cawthorns to change the library books. Came home at 5. Lord Aberdare came to see Henry after lunch & sat with him some time– I left him with him when I went out. Augusta & I had a little tea party—Css Lutzow, my sister Blanche, Miss Darcey (daughter of rich Australians), Miss Hozier (daughter of Sir Wm), Daisy & Nela Du Cane, & several men– Augusta dined out. Blanche Pon: came & dined with Nela & me. Henry suffered pain at times today– Mr Herring came to see him & seems still hopeful. I am horribly anxious.
