3 May 1894 — 1 Queen Anne Street | |
Thursday. 3rd May [1894]. I wrote letters to Henry to his dictation in the morning. He had the bed rest & sat up for his breakfast but complained of pain afterwards & was not very well all the morng. I had visits from Sigr Ronzoni in search of Italian lessons. Maria came & then Sigra Palloni the contralto. She is getting on very well & has had a great success this winter in Berlin. Then came Mrs Ball & sat with me some time. Augusta Gregory came to luncheon & then sat with Henry who did not get up till 3. Went out in the carriage with Augusta G., Nela & Julia Du Cane. Took Augusta to her home at Q. Anne Mansions & paid her a visit. Came home to tea. Melony à Court called– Afterwards I sat with Henry & read aloud to him. Sophy Palmer came to see him at 6. Then my sister Blanche with little Gweneth. Hallam Murray came & I talked to him abt the Venice Church & he is to consult his great friend the Architect Mr Ernest George. Nela & I sat with Henry while he dined– At 8 Nela & Nurse Watson & I dined & then had coffee with Henry while he smoked his cigarette & the rest of the evening I read aloud Lady Granville’s letters. | |
