6 May 1894 — 1 Queen Anne Street
Sunday. 6th May [1894]. I woke at 7.30 & went to Henry until time to dress for breakfast. Went to St Pauls Church Langham St with Kitty for the 11 ocl service. Came home & read aloud to Henry. Edward & Blanche came in before lunch. Charlie Eliot also came with a message from Prince & Pss Christian of sympathy at Henry’s illness. After lunch Kate & Nela went to St Pauls in the city. I sat with Henry & read to him till abt 4 o’cl when Sir Arthur Otway came to see him. Richard Du Cane sat also with us a little while. Little Gweneth Ponsonby came to see Henry & remained to tea with Sir Arthur & me. He was quite fascinated by her. Henry was not so well this afternoon rather in pain. Mr Benson came to see him but he could not keep him very long nor could he see Mrs Rate & her Enid who came & waited some time in hopes of seeing him. Maria came abt 6 & I walked up to her house with her & finding Nela there we came home together. Maria came & dined with us & Connie came in in the evening—so in one day I have seen all four of my sisters. Nellie Alderson also dined with us. Henry went early to bed & then got better. I went & sat in Kate’s room & we made tea.
