24 June 1894 — 1 Queen Anne Street
Sunday. 24th June [1894]. I breakfasted upstairs. Henry had a restless night & slept little—but made up for it in the day & slept a great deal. Maria came & sat with me during morning church time & we had a long talk in a whisper abt the future of the different members of her family while Henry was asleep in the next room– My brother Arthur came to see Henry for a short visit. Lina Duff G. came to see me. After lunch came Count Hatzfeldt, Sir Arthur Otway, Sir Collingwood Dickson, Mr Thompson. Henry saw Otway & Rd Du Cane. Mrs Rate came to lunch & afterwards took me out for a drive in a hansom. We went to the Embankment back by the House of Parliament, Birdcage walk, Consta. Hill & home. It took us about an hour & she dropped me at home– Lady Gregory came & went out to eveng church & then she & I dined at 17 Cavendish Sqr. Sir Henry Thompson came to see Henry in afternoon & was satisfied he is better. Sophy Palmer & Connie Eliot came just before dinner. I really am happier about Henry, tho’ he is still very ill—yet he is now a good deal better–
