26 June 1894 — 1 Queen Anne Street
Tuesday. 26th June [1894]. Henry had a good night & was much better this morning. It was a very hot day. Nurse No 1 & I went for a walk at 11, we walked to Berkeley Sqr & I took a message from Henry to Mr Clark about some stone carved chimney pieces we had ordered from Venice for him. Found Mr Rate & Connie had been to see Henry & had just left him. Adeline Dss Bedford came to see me abt 1 o’cl and was very dear & comforting. She went in to see Henry for a few minutes. Rachel Lady Dudley, our old friend Mosquito came to fetch her away & came up also to see him. He was quite delighted to see them & was almost moved to tears– Rachel said she now had 2 fat babies & that the Mosquito had 2 little Midges & promised to send him her photograph– Sure eno’ an hour later a lovely one of her & her little girl came—& he dictated a letter of thanks to her & signed it tho’ with some difficulty– Addie & Rachel left before lunch– Mildred Mansel also came just before luncheon. I sat with Henry in afternoon. Css Lutzow called on me also Cornelia & Corise Maria. Lina DG & Ivor dined with Eda & Nela. Bed early.
