2 July 1894 — 1 Queen Anne Street
Monday. 2nd July [1894]. Tho’ Henry did not have a very good night he is a little stronger today. I was with him nearly all day. Read the Times to him & wrote a letter to Mr Poynter for him abt the Hope Sale of pictures. I read to him Sir F. Burton’s article in 19th Centy on the picture by Leonardo da Vinci in the Gallery. Stella saw him also Sir F. Burton & his brother Edgar. The Raymond Layards came but he could not see them. Addie Dss Bedford came to see me also Lady Aberdare & So Palmer. It was a very hot day but not quite so bad as yesterday. I did not get out till after dinner when Nela, Augusta Gregory & Maria & Rd who all dined here drove out with me from 9.30 to 11. Wrote a lot of letters & went late to bed. Henry seems still very weak–
