21 August 1894 — Devonshire House, Weymouth
Tuesday. 21st August [1894]. Arthur telegraphed to beg me to return to Bere so I answered I will go tomorrow. Monty came in the course of the morning & lunched with me. After lunch he took me out sailing in his boat. We went about on the Portland Roads– It was fresh & lovely weather. We got rather wet but it did not hurt us– We went near Lord Londsdales yacht & Gracie spoke to us as we went by. Home to tea at 5. I stayed in & Monty went to the Club & came back & dined here at 8. We had some talk about future plans & living in London. He wants to leave Savile Row and I offered him to come & live with me at No 1 Q. Anne St. He wants rather that we should take a house together in Mayfair. It breaks my heart to think of leaving our house where we were so happy together Henry & I. I dont think I can do it but for the present there is no need of think of it.
