6 September 1894 — Devonshire House, Weymouth
Thursday. 6th September [1894]. Breakfasted at 8. Wrote letters. At 12 Nela & I walked to the station to see if her sisters were coming from B’mouth for the day. They did not come by 12.8 train so we went home to lunch. The sun was very hot. After lunch she read to me while I knitted. We had tea at 6 & then walked along the road overlooking Portland Roads & came back by the path along the downs by the coast then to the fort in our bay back by the bridge up the High St & home by 6.15 about a 2 hours walk. Dined at 7.30 & played Patience in eveng. I received from the Archbishop of York a book by L. Holland “The Communion of Saints.”
