9 September 1894 — Devonshire House, Weymouth
Sunday. 9th September [1894]. Breakfast at 9. Went to church with Maria & Nela. Heard Bishop Maule preach a missionary sermon. After lunch worked while Maria read the “Water Babies” aloud. Tea at 4.30. Then went for a walk along the Esplanade on the Dorchester Rd back to the gardens & then back & went on the pier & home to dress for 7.30 dinner. It was a fine day but blew pretty hard till sundown– There was a fine sunset & after glow & a bright moon. After dinner Nela went out on the pier with Bertha. Maria & I sat working & talking till bed time.
