18 September 1894 — 1 Queen Anne Street
Tuesday. 18th September [1894]. Kate & I breakfasted at 9 & then sat talking till 12.30 when I walked off to the dentist & he restopped my front teeth. When I got home I found her at lunch with her boy Reggie who had joined her from Lutterworth. They went off to catch a train directly afterwards. Just before 2 Lady Sophie Palmer arrived to see me having come up from Blackmoor on purpose. Ola also came to luncheon. At 2.30 Hallam Murray & Mr Earnest George came & we had a confab over the decorations of the Venice Church & when they were gone I sat & talked to Sophy. Gave her tea at 4.15 & she returned home by 5 o’cl train. Had a visit from Mr Herring—& then from Mr Hormuzd Rassam & then Lady MacDonell—wife of Sir Hugh our Minister at Lisbon. All were most kind to me– Then Nurse Watson came to take leave of me—& I went to dine with Sir Henry & Lady Thompson & their son Herbert walked me home—& I am very tired & weary.
