20 September 1894 — 1 Queen Anne Street
Thursday. 20th September [1894]. Breakfasted at 8—& finished packing. The servants & luggage went off at 9.30 to Victoria Station. Ola & her father & Louis came to No 1 at 10.15. Lady Thompson sent her carriage which took us four to the station & my sister Maria met us– Ola & I left by 11 A.M. train for Dover. We had a good crossing quite calm—& my brother Arthur had provided a private cabin. At Calais we had places in the sleeping car as far as Bâle & slept pretty well.
