5 October 1894 — Ca’ Capello, Venice | |
Friday. 5th October [1894]. Another fine day– Had my hair cut & washed. Wrote to Mr Clark & Lady Gregory. Gardened a little. After lunch went out with Ola in gondola to the Public gardens & took a little walk & home by 5 dropping Ola at the Piazza & she walked home. Had a visit from Moisè della Torre (Rietti) full of sorrow about Henry’s death & very kind & sympathetic– He tells me how much he is missed here—& how beloved he is. Ola & I set to work before dinner to find out Mr Clark’s accounts with Beraghi &c &c & turned out & arranged some of my table drawers & before we had done the dinner bell rang. After dinner I read aloud to Ola & played patience. | |
