7 October 1894 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Sunday. 7th October [1894]. Up at 7 as usual. Ola & I went to church service at 10.30 & stayed to Communion. After lunch we went in gondola to the Zattere & got out & walked to the Cotonificio & the old Campo di Marte & then back to the gondola. The sun was fierce & hot & it was very fine. How Henry would have enjoyed this day! Came home to tea. Ola went to afternoon service. Ersilia Canevaro came to tea with me. Mr Woods came & I gave him Mr Earnest George’s plans for the decoration of the church here & he kindly undertook to see into it & said he had no doubt he could get the money to carry it out—& in memory of Henry he is sure it could be done. I shall be glad if this is so—& willingly put it into his hands. Dined at 8 & read aloud to Ola—played patience–
