8 October 1894 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Monday. 8th October [1894]. Had a very kind letter from the Empress Frederick begged me to go & see her at Cronberg in the spring. Did accounts. Paid house books. Ola & I began to go over the books in the library & put in Henry’s book plates that are missing. Mrs Eden came to lunch with us at one & then I took her to the garden & she picked me a lot of flowers. Mr Eden & Miss Parnell joined us there at 4 having been out in the launch. Genl de Horsey came to the garden & talked to me about Henry & how he felt at his loss. I went home by 5 & found Cortelazzo had arrived from Vicenza to see me & stay the night. He was much overcome at seeing me as he is devoted to Henry. Ola had been out in sandolo. Mme de Hurtado came to see me & was very kind. Helped Ola to arrange the flowers. Dinner 8. Patience.
