17 November 1894 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Saturday. 17th November [1894]. It was a very warm day—hot sun & scirocco. Blanche & I went out walking in the morning to Rietti’s in search of work for Blanche’s Irish girls to copy. Then we walked round by the Iron Bridge to S. Stefano & to the Traghetto of S. Toma & were ferried home. After lunch Blanche & I went to the Lido in gondola & took a little walk but found it almost too hot. I read aloud to her there & back home to tea. Carry Eden came & later Ersilia & Maria Cozzi & Trombini came to practise duetts with them. Blanche was taken rather unwell in the evening.
