21 November 1894 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Wednesday. 21st November [1894]. The Salute fête. Ola & Olwen went off after breakfast to see the procession. Blanche & Edward went with Css Canevaro sightseeing. I made a design for work for Blanche. She came in at 12 & it being a lovely morning Edward got me to go out walking with him. We went by Rialto to the Piazza & wanted to find out at Cook’s office about the P&O steamers to Egypt but the clerk was away at his lunch so we walked home crossing the S. Tomà traghetto & got just in time for lunch. I went after lunch with Blanche & Edward in gondola to the Armenian Convent. P. Alischan recd us to took us about & we did not stay very long but after being regaled with rose conserve & rosaglio walked round the garden & set off home—& got in just after sunset. B & E went on to Mme Wiels to tea. Mr Carey came to see me & then Iduna Belmondo came. I had not see her since last year—& we had not met since my great sorrow. Belmondo came to join her & then the others came in & made her acquaintance. At 7 I went to dine with Css Pisani quite alone us two & came home early.
