12 December 1894 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Wednesday. 12th December [1894]. I got a letter from Cornelia saying Elaine with her brother Henry were coming here direct & are to arrive on Monday & both to go to Egypt with me. Ola & I finished sticking in the newspaper cuttings abt Henry & I put all the books away into a tin box– I feel dreadfully that now that is done I have finished working for Henry. Happily I have still the MS of his Autobiography to go through & to decide on the publishing of it. It is a great link with the past years still left between us. It was a long day & after lunch Ola & I went off in gondola to the Public Gardens & took a walk there. We met Mr & Mrs Curtis & walked back to the Piazza with them & I came home in gondola. Ola walked home. Abt 6 Clara & Hilda Montalba came to see us. Their brother is now much better. Cornelia did not give a very good acct of my mother in today’s letter. I am more & more anxious abt her.
