4 January 1895 — Cairo | |
Friday. 4th January [1895]. Elaine was not well & kept her bed. I wrote letters all the morning & went to lunch alone. Elaine was very bad in the afternoon & I remained with her only going out for ½ hour in the garden. She got better about 5 & had some tea. The Rennell Rodd’s came to call & I went downstairs to see them in the hall. I dined alone. Elaine got up for an hour in the evening & was much better. | |
