6 January 1895 — Cairo | |
Sunday. 6th January [1895]. We all three went across the river & took a carriage to the church—arrived rather late. Elaine & I took a turn in the Eskujch Gardens & then returned to our hotel in the break with 4 horses which runs backwards & forwards between the hotel & the town. Lady Victoria & Miss Lambton & Mr Ralph Lambton, Mr DeBarrito & Mr came to lunch here with us & they went to Gizah afterwards. I did not go out again. Tried to sketch in pastels. Had tea– Elaine & H.G. returned about 6. Dined at 8. Bed at 11. | |
