23 January 1895 — Aswan | |
Wednesday. 23rd January [1895]. An expedition to Philæ today in which I did not take part or Miss Lambton either. I painted & read. There was only us two & Baron de Romberg at lunch. The rest of the party returned at abt 3—having returned by the cataract thro’ the small gate at a cost of 20 piastres each. At 5 I took a short walk with Lady Victoria & we went to Cook’s office to arrange our places in the return steamer later on. Dined on board & at 10 came on shore & took up our abode at the hotel. The Lambtons & the 3 young men went to the floating hotel the “Seti” moored in the river. | |
