29 January 1895 — Aswan | |
Tuesday. 29th January [1895]. We left Assouan at 5 in the morning & reached Luxor abt 5 P.M. Went on shore to the hotel to ask for our rooms Elaine & I but found we cannot have them till tomorrow—so returned to the boat. Found letters & the servant Roberts waiting for us. At last I got an account of my mothers death. The Lambtons had half a mind to remain here but finally decided to go to Cairo in the Rameses. | |
