1 February 1895 — Luxor | |
Friday. 1st February [1895]. Went on with our oil sketch till lunch time. In the afternoon we went out for a walk after tea– Arranged with Mohammed Achmed to go tomorrow to Karnak. Afterwards Felicie told me the Manager on board the Mohammed Ali had told her to warn us against him & that he was a mauvais sujet &c &c so we are resolved to be on our guard. We got places at dinner opposite the Bensons & sat with them after dinner. Miss Gent, Miss Benson’s companion gave Elaine a lesson in playing “knuckle bones” which amused her vastly. | |
