6 March 1895 — Cairo
Wednesday. 6th [March 1895]. I had a headache when I got up so I remained in my room all day. The races took place in the afternoon to which everyone went & so I was very quiet & read a good deal & wrote letters. I went down to dinner in the evening. A party to go to Sakkarah was arranged for tomorrow & I promised to go & invited Miss Arbuthnot to come with me in the sand cart. I sat a little while with Lady Ashburton at bed time & brushed Elaine’s hair for her when she went to bed.
