18 March 1895 — Cairo
Monday. 18th March [1895]. Had a quiet morning. Sat in the drawing room & Elaine drew while I read Heroditus aloud to her. Mr Lambton was at lunch & did not leave till 4 o’cl. Elaine & I drove in to Cairo & went to enquire at Cook’s office abt our journey home. Lady Wilfreda Biddulph came to tea with us & Baron de Romberg also turned up. I wrote letters for the post. Elaine & I had a quiet dinner.
