6 April 1895 — Ca’ Capello, Venice | |
Saturday. 6th [April 1895]. Wrote letters & sent cheques to pay bills. Css Pisani came to luncheon. Mr Eden called for Elaine & me in the steam launch and took us to his vigna at S. Erasmo. The daffodils & hyacinths were in bloom & very lovely. Also the wild plums. He brought us back to his garden in the Giudecca & we had tea with him. There our gondola met us & brought us home. After dinner Elaine & Ola went out by moonlight in the sandolo. This time last year Henry & I reached London & from that time began his invalid life. | |
