17 May 1895 — 1 Queen Anne Street
Friday. 17th May [1895]. Maria came to see me in the morng being abt to leave town till Monday & we went to Cav. Sqr together & I paid Edward a visit & had much talk. Alice Murray came to lunch with me & we had much talk over Ola’s future plans. Nelly Alderson came after & took a drive round Regent’s Park with me & then I took her back to Savile Row. As we talked it somehow came that she said I ought to go & live with my brother Monty at Savile Row as he now has the house all to himself & she took me in & made me go over the house. I left her there & returned home to tea sad & weary & feeling very miserable at the thoughts of leaving this house with all its memories—so beautiful & also so sad– Edward & Mr Woods came at 6.30 to talk over the scheme for finishing the church at Venice.
