29 May 1895 — 1 Queen Anne Street
Wednesday. 29th May [1895]. Mrs Julia Ball came at 11 & sat a long time with me. She is not so despondent as she was & is beginning to take her sorrow more healthily. Lady Gregory came to luncheon. Monty came afterwards & we talked over the Savile Row plan & then I drove him & Lady Gregory there & we paid Nelly a visit in the studio & went over the house again to show it to Lady G. Then she & I drove together. I went to the Gros: Hotel to take Mrs Brooks her father Sir J. Drummond Hay’s letters to Henry & she gave me Henry’s to her father. I left Augusta Gregory in Green Park & went to Savile Row to fetch Nelly & brought her up to tea with me. Then she & I walked up to 25 Portland Place meeting Maria en route. I stayed there a little & heard Isabel play the piano & then came home & went to bed tired out & dined in bed. Nela came & sat with me in the eveng.
