30 May 1895 — 1 Queen Anne Street
Thursday. 30th [May 1895]. Mr Mossop came to see me in the morning & I had a long talk with him about his engagement to Aline Lambton. I thought he seemed to want to get out of it & offered to help him. It was difficult to make out what he does want & after much talk I came to no conclusion. Elaine came to see me—& Nela Du Cane. Hallam Murray came to luncheon & we consulted about publishing the early part of Henry’s memoirs & his early letters. Alice Murray came to tea. I drove out at 3. Went to see Lady V. Lambton to talk about Mr Mossop & just after I got there he came there himself to have a talk with her so I went off. I took Hallam Henry’s letters that the matter might be considered. Maria Du Cane & some of her girls came & sat some time. At 7 I went & dined at 17 Cav. Sqr with the Duncannons & left with Blanche & Edward by the 8.30 train from Euston for Ireland to go to stay at Bessborough.
