21 June 1895 — 1 Queen Anne Street
Friday. 21st June [1895]. My brother Monty came to see me abt 9.30 & told me to go to Weymouth to his house if I liked. He was riding a bicycle & went on from me to ride in Battersea Park which is now the rage. All the smart London world rides bicycles there & breakfasts there—a restaurant being provided by a Mr Algernon Bourke. I went to lunch with Adeline Bedford & drove out afterwards with her. We went to see a house in Park Lane wh is to let. It was small & stuffy & £400 a year. Eda Alderson left me today & went to stay with the Du Canes at Park Crescent. Alice Murray went to sleep at Pk Crescent also to make room for Merthyr & Theo came came for the night. Nelly Alderson came & dined with me & left at 11. The Guests arrived soon after & I sat up late talking to Merthyr.
