14 September 1895 — 1 Queen Anne Street
Saturday. 14th September [1895]. Elaine got up early with intention of going with Freddy to re-inspect the cart at Baker St but he sent to put her off. We breakfasted at 9.30 & then we walked out. Elaine bought a jacket & I then left her at a hair dresser’s & her maid met her there. I walked on to Savile Row & then to Jermyn St & home to luncheon– Elaine left directly after. I took a long walk from home—(Q. Anne St) to Southwell Gardens to call on Mrs Ball. Her maid said she was at home but after I had waited a little said she could not find her so I set off & walked back through the Park as far as the Marble Arch where I took a cab & got home at 5.30. Had tea in my room. Dinner at 8 & bed early.
