31 December 1895 — 3 Savile Row
Tuesday. 31st December [1895]. Eda breakfasted in my bedroom at 7.30 & then went abt 8 to Charing Cross station for Paris where she will join the Borwicks. I breakfasted in bed & got up after. Wrote lots more letters. Type wrote. Monty came in to the library after lunch & brought me his Yost type writer to see & told me to have it cleaned. He left London for [illegible word] at 3.30. I went out for a walk & in Piccadilly met Connie & Bee & turned back with them & walked up Bond St. We met Maria & July & they came to tea with me. Connie & Bee could not come. When they left I set to work to type write & again all the evening till bed time and so ends another sad long year– My only pleasure now is copying those letters of Henry’s to Mr Clark which take me back to happy past days—but it makes me very very sad–
