Sunday. 5th [January 1896]. I walked down to St Margaret Westr by 11 & found the service was not till 11.30. Mr Aiten the new incumbent’s first Sunday. a new choir & organist & a curtailed service. He preached & first referred to the changes & hoped the old congregation wd not mind &c &c. I did not like his face. If one may dare to judge by appearances. I had a bad mouth. We got out of church at 1. Connie came to lunch with me. | |
