Monday. 6th January [1896]. A very black dark day so that I had to have the electric light all day long, & so I sat at home & wrote letters & copied with the typewriter. Excitement in newspapers over the Transvaal. Dr Jameson is beaten & the Emperor of Germany sends a message to Kruger highly offensive to England! Saw no one all day. | |
