11 April 1896 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Saturday. 11th [April 1896]. Aline still in bed– Cini not so gloomy about her today. A great stir in the town at the coming of the Emperor & Empress Germany in the Hohenzollern yacht. Eda went out to see it with Iduna. Mrs John Green wife of the late historian called just as I was going off to lunch with Css Pisani so I took her home. Css Pisani was still in bed & she had the lunch table brought into her room & we lunched there. Afterwards she had a visit from Dr Cini & some pleasant talk & then at 3.30 I walked home & sat with Aline the rest of the afternoon. Eda returned to tea & then went off again to see Css Pisani & returned to dinner at 7.30. We dined earlier that the servants might go out to see the fêtes.
