12 April 1896 — Ca’ Capello, Venice | |
Sunday. 12th April [1896]. I remained at home in morning with Aline while Eda took Iduna Bel to church & then after 12 I went to see Css Pisani & sat talking with her some time. I went there again after luncheon & met there Marchese del Grillo the Queen’s gentleman who had come from the Palace. Mrs McClellan (widow of the USA general) was also there. I returned home to luncheon. In afternoon Eda & I took a row & then went again to the Css Pisani’s. After dinner Eda went for a row to see the fireworks & serenade but there came on a sudden deluge of rain & she & Bertha who had accompanied her came home soaking. | |
