5 May 1896 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Tuesday. 5th [May 1896]. I went off after breakfast to Passini’s studio to sit to him for the third time for my portrait. He was so disgusted with his two former efforts when he saw them again after 2 years that he resolved to try again & hopes to succeed better if I go to his studio where the light is better than in this house. He sketched in the figure today. I walked home at 12. I painted a little copying a picture after lunch & went out with Augusta in gondola for an hour before tea. Aline keeps her bed still & was very unwell all day.
