21 June 1896 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Sunday. 21st June [1896]. We went to morning service taking Iduna Belmondo & her sister Aimée Cariati with us. Afterwards we went to the Accademia to see the Picture Gallery & home to lunch. Wrote some letters– Had a long visit from Olga Mocenigo (Windischgrätz) & heard all abt their daughter’s engagement to Ct Robilant. At 4.30 Augusta & I went in gondola to fetch Iduna & took her to the Lido to the Quattro Fontana. It was very hot but we found a little shade under the sandbank & there we sat & made tea—& were joined by Ct Belmondo & Aimée Cariati who went by steamer. We came home by 8.15 & brought Aimée with us– A lovely sunset & hot night.
