Tuesday. 14th [July 1896]. We started out before 8. Having our breakfasts at 7.15. We took a long walk & returned home at 9.30. Then I had my bath, read Dante & rested & we had lunch at 12– Sophy read aloud to me after lunch & then she wrote & I did some type writing for her—some letters of her father’s to Goldwin Smith to be published in her Memorials of Lord Selborne. At 4.30 we had tea & then went for a drive on the Feltre road. We met the Eden’s servants & heard that they are to arrive at their villa at Salce the day after tomorrow. We dined on the balcony & Sophy read aloud in evening. Bed at 10. | |
