11 September 1896 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Friday. 11th [September 1896]. I wrote letters in the morng & Sophy packed. Lunch at 1 & then I took her to the station & saw her off by 2.5 train for Milan. She goes on to Basle tonight & sleeps tomorrow at Laon where she will find Misses Gordon & Soulsby. On my way home I stopped at Olga Montenegro’s & saw Mlle Aspasie. I was allowed to see Olga Montenegro. She was not looking as ill as I expected & was sitting up in bed—but her hands were cold & she seemed much wasted– Still she spoke of hoping soon to be better. I stayed but a few minutes as she was weak. Came home & began to arrange some of Henry’s letters & papers till dinner. I dined in the studio & went early to bed.
