20 September 1896 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Sunday. 20th [September 1896]. Jack & I went to morning service– It rained & blew & was chilly. Yesterday one of the young parrots was hatched. The 2nd family of this year– The last family was all born maimed. We hope for better luck this time. After church on my return I found Mr Claude Phillips & his sister here looking at the pictures & with them Signr Gustave Frizzoni—Morelli’s great friend. I promised to send him Morelli’s letters to Henry to see. Nevil & I went out for a row as it quite cleared up. I went to see Aspasie– On my return met Mr Montalba at the door & I asked him to come back & dine with us which he did & took out Jack in the eveng when Nevil & I went to bed.
