17 October 1896 — Ca’ Capello, Venice | |
Saturday. 17th October [1896]. Typed & helped Nevil with his painting. After lunch we all went for a row in the gondola—landed at S. Moise & bought paint brushes—& joined the gondola again at the Piazzetta. We finished the copies Nevil & I were doing of the picture here by Savoldo. Princess Adine Windischgrätz & her sister Olga Mocenigo came to tea—also Ersilia Canevaro—the latter dropped a diamond brooch in the drawing room. We found it & sent it to her house & she got it back before she was aware of its loss. | |
