18 October 1896 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Sunday. 18th [October 1896]. George Gordon & I went to morning service & took Iduna Bel with us. G. read the lessons. Met Mr Ernest George coming out who has come about the completion of our church. Adine came soon after 12 to see the pictures here & stayed to lunch & Olga joined her. At 3 I went out in gondola with George to the Eden’s garden. We “snailed” (killed snails) & picked dahlias & chrysanthemums. Then he & I went to tea at the Belmondos—& came home at 5.30. Nevil was not very well & did not go out & went to bed directly after dinner. G. went out to the Piazza. I played patience & he returned & helped me till bed time.
