29 November 1896 — Springfield Lodge, nr. Dorking, Surrey
Sunday. 29th November [1896]. Still very cold. The girls went to church at Ranmore. Maria & I did not go beyond the garden. Louis DC. came down on his bicycle from town & arrived while we were at luncheon. He wanted to talk to me about 3 Savile Row—about which I had been rather troubled—and which Mr Rate seems to think I might buy the house & that it would not be a bad investment—but Louis thought I ought not to do it in a hurry. He left again soon after three o’cl & returned to town.
