19 January 1897 — 3 Savile Row
Tuesday. 19th January [1897]. Sophy’s old friend Mrs FitzGerald came to luncheon. She had expressed a wish to know me & to hear about Mr & Mrs Browning—of their true reasons for their unhappy separation &c—so I begged her to come to luncheon. She is nearly 87, short & stout & not looking more than 65– She was much interested at seeing the house & all the pictures &c in it & left quite delighted. At 3 I drove with Sophy & she went on to see Freda. Mr & Mrs Hervey (Augusta Gregory’s young niece) came to tea also Kathleen Hanson & her brother Bertram.
