23 January 1897 — 3 Savile Row
Saturday. 23rd January [1897]. A better morning. Dr Edgelow came in the morning to see me & also Sophy & he ordered her to remain in bed– I went to the studio to superintend Nela’s fan painting—it was dreadfully cold there. Blossom Lady Alderson came to lunch & afterwards Miss Oswell came & we spent the whole afternoon correcting from the MS—only stopping a little while for 5 o’cl tea. She stayed to dinner & we worked a little again in the evening. I went up to see Sophy in evening– She was very ailing.
